Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has sparked controversy with a directive ordering security agencies to detain individuals wearing dreadlocks in the state.
Governor Bago has ordered that individuals with dreadlocks be arrested, have their hair shaved off, and be fined, as shown in a video circulating on social media.
“From today henceforth, anybody you find with dreadlock in Niger State, arrest them, barb their hair, and fine them,” the governor declared, as the crowd listened.
Governor Bago went further, directing security agencies to treat anyone found with a weapon as an armed robber, emphasizing that no one should be exempt from the fight against criminal elements in the state.
