Lieutenant Colonel Anele Onyinyechi Appolonia has been appointed by the Nigerian Army as its Acting Director, Army Public Relations, making her the first woman to occupy the position.
Anele, a member of Direct Regular Course 15 and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, will take over from Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, who has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, effective April 22, 2025.
Prior to this promotion, Lt. Col. Anele completed a six-month strategic course at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, and was then assigned to the Department of Civil-Military Relations.
She had previously worked as the Public Relations Officer in the Office of the Chief of Army Staff, prior to which she was with the Department of Civil-Military Relations.
