Popular singer Osupa drops defamation case against Portable in Kwara following Sowore’s mediation

Omoyele Sowore, a politician and activist, has disclosed that Saheed Osupa Akorede, a well-known fuji musician, has withdrawn his defamation lawsuit against fellow musician Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, at an Upper Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to a post shared on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon, Sowore claimed to have spoken with Osupa, who clarified that his deployment of police officers was meant to demonstrate his non-involvement in any plot to harm Portable, though he admitted that his actions may have appeared to be an abuse of police power.

Following this, he chose to drop the charges that led to Portable’s imprisonment in Ilorin after he was unable to meet the bail conditions on Monday.

Sowore maintained that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) should not be used to enforce civil disputes and called for an end to the misuse of cybercrime charges.
