A massive fire broke out on Monday night after an explosion hit the Trans-Niger Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The cause of the explosion is still unknown, but an investigation is currently underway.
A key section of a pipeline, crucial for exporting crude oil to the Bonny Terminal, is on fire, with officials yet to determine if the incident was an act of sabotage.
Given the recent threats against oil facilities and heightened political tensions in Rivers State, authorities are exploring the possibility of militant involvement in the attacks, which come amid a fierce power struggle between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
