FG approves $1bn to tackle child, maternal Mortality

The Federal Government has approved a $1 billion facility, announced by Dr Ali Pate, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, to support all 36 states in tackling child and maternal mortality.

According to Pate, the Federal Government is also upgrading 774 healthcare facilities nationwide to serve as referral centres that can provide free treatment for emergency obstetric complications.

The minister made this disclosure during the launch of the Co-Creation Workshop on the Ogun State Maternal and Newborn Mortality Reduction Innovation and Initiative in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

Pate explained that the recently approved $1 billion facility is intended to motivate states to achieve significant reductions in child and maternal mortality rates.
