Gunmen kidnap 4 female students from Nigerian university

Gunmen reportedly abducted four female students from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, formerly the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, on Tuesday night in Benue State, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.

According to witnesses, six female students were intercepted by assailants around 8:30 p.m. at the university’s North Core campus, where they were headed for a night study session.

Four of the students were seized, while two managed to escape.

Mrs. Rosemary Waku, the university’s Head of Information, said she had just returned to town and would provide more information after evaluating the situation on campus.

CSP Catherine Anene, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the attack in a statement, but reported a different number of victims.

“We received information that two students were kidnapped by unknown gunmen. Investigations are ongoing,” Anene said.

Authorities have launched an investigation to locate the missing students and bring the perpetrators to justice.
