Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has established a committee to address the growing number of Almajiri’s in the city, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, revealed this during a press briefing following a closed-door security meeting chaired by the FCT Minister, explaining that the move aims to ensure security agencies are informed about Almajiri’s activities, including welfare and schooling.
Though he dismissed questions bordering on security threats in the nation’s capital, Disu appealed to residents to be security conscious and report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
The committee, consisting of the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Department of State Service, among others, has been instructed to submit its report within two weeks.
In a separate development, the FCT Commissioner of Police announced the arrest of five suspects for various crimes.
