The National Population Commission has issued a warning to Nigerians about a fake website claiming to recruit Ad-hoc staff for the 2025 Population and Housing Census, with the intention of defrauding unsuspecting citizens, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
In a statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs Erelu Taibat Yemi Oloruntoba, made available to the media on Thursday, the fake website, accessible at https://qpetition.org/NPC-Ad-Hoc-Staff-Recruitment.html, is being used by scammers with the intention of defrauding unsuspecting citizens.
The National Population Commission has clarified that recruitment for the census is not currently underway, and any hiring for Ad-hoc staff will only occur after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announces the official census date.
The National Population Commission (NPC) has assured the public that genuine recruitment for census staff will be widely advertised through national media outlets, the Commission’s official social media platforms, and website.
The Commission urges Nigerians to be cautious and avoid falling prey to fraudulent activities by disregarding false online information.
The NPC is taking steps to investigate and track down those responsible for the fake website. For accurate information on NPC activities, the public is advised to rely solely on the Commission’s official social media handles and website.
The NPC reaffirms its commitment to keeping the public informed as preparations for Nigeria’s first biometric Population and Housing Census continue.
