The management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, has cancelled some final year examinations following wild celebrations by graduating students on campus.
In a statement issued by the Head of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol, Mr. Mike Ade Oladenika, the university explained that the students had violated an existing rule prohibiting such jubilation within the school premises.
The affected departments include Mass Communication, English, and History in the Faculty of Arts. The decision to cancel the exams was made after an emergency meeting on Wednesday, during which the management cited the students’ involvement in car displays, siren blaring, money spraying, shouting, and hooting. The celebrations also resulted in the blockade of access roads within the campus.
The cancelled examinations include ELS 411, MAC 414, and HIS 416. The university has assured students that a new date for the rescheduled exams will be announced in due course.
