The Ondo state command of the Western Security Network, Amotekun corps, has announced plans to collaborate with other corps in the zone to rid the area of criminals, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, who serves as both the commander of the Amotekun corps in Ondo state and the chairman of Amotekun corps in Nigeria, made this statement in Akure.
The collaboration of all Amotekun corps in the South western zone of the country to form a joint patrol aims to eliminate criminals across the entire zone.
As the corps reduced its 24/7 Yuletide patrol in the state, it has begun deploying armoured teams to forests across the state to tackle and flush out incoming bandits.
Meanwhile, the Amotekun corps paraded 21 suspects, including Monday Ojoowuro, a 32-year-old man from Irele in Ondo state, who confessed to using a pestle to kill unsuspecting victims before stealing their phones.
Monday admitted to collecting multiple phones from people in this manner, including a recent collection of Camon 12 phones which he sold for 30,000.
Additionally, Noel Boulus, a 33-year-old suspect who escaped from a cell while still handcuffed, was apprehended.
The Amotekun boss urged the public to provide security agencies with useful information and cooperate to combat crime in the state.
According to Adeleye, at least 15 attempted kidnapping cases have been foiled in the past month, particularly in the state’s border towns.
