President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Aisha Garba, a seasoned international development specialist, as the Executive Secretary of Universal Basic Education, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Garba, a Senior Education Specialist with the World Bank, has over twenty-four years of experience in driving impactful education programmes.
She has worked in Nigeria, Ghana, Somalia, Kenya, the USA, and the UK, and has led the design and management of education programmes and reforms at the World Bank.
Garba will bring her expertise and network to deliver sustainable solutions in basic education.
Garba had previously worked with the team that achieved the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) targets in Nigeria and provided consulting services to several organizations including the World Bank, Department for International Development, BOND-UK, Regent Foundation, and Muslim Aid Organization.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Computer Studies from Petra American University in Jordan and a Master’s degree in International Development from the University of Birmingham in the UK.
The President expects the new Executive Secretary of UBEC to lead the effort to provide quality education and make Nigerian children globally competitive.
