President Bola Tinubu has stated that a magical solution to Nigeria’s electricity challenges is unrealistic, citing the country’s outdated power infrastructure, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
He made these remarks during German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s visit to the Presidential Villa.
Tinubu noted that despite efforts by Siemens Energy to improve the situation, the decade-old power infrastructure poses a significant challenge.
His comments come as Nigeria experienced its 12th national power grid collapse since the beginning of 2024.
“Nigeria, being a nation in a hurry, wants a magical response. But don’t forget, those transmission lines are about 50 to 60 years old.
“The snags are what we are trying to improve and reduce the possibility of problems. We are doing that. I’ve signed a reform that decentralised the power distribution and generation in the country,” Tinubu said.
He also assured that various states and sub-nationals are doing their best to generate their own power.
