Breaking: Court orders arrest of Polaris Bank MD, manager in Niger

Justice Maimuna Abubakar of the Niger High Court 6 has ordered the arrest of Polaris Bank’s Managing Director, Omokayode Lawal, and the Minna Branch manager for contempt of court over alleged tax evasion of N1 billion.

The state Internal Revenue Service had filed a case against the defendants for refusing to pay taxes worth over N1 billion.

The duo were absent during the court proceeding which was held yesterday.

The warrant of arrest against the Managing Director and the Minna branch manager was as a result of their refusal to honour the Court Summon to be present in court.

In her ruling, Justice Maimuna Abubakar ordered Police Officers to effect the arrest of the defendants.

She then adjourned the case to December 13, 2024 for the arraignment of the defendants.
