Breaking: 4 Reps dump Labour Party for APC

Four members of Nigeria’s House of Representatives have defected from the Labour Party to the All Progressives Congress (APC), SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.

The defection was announced by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas on Thursday, during plenary.

The defectors include Rep Tochukwu Okere (Imo State), Rep Donates Mathew (Kaduna State), Bassey Akiba (Cross River State), and Iyawu Esosa Edo (Edo State), as well as Rep Erthiatake Ibori-Suenu (Delta State), who defected from the PDP to the APC.

Minority Whip Ali Isah JC (PDP-Gombe) has requested that the speaker declare the seats of the defected lawmakers vacant, citing Section 68(1) of the Nigerian Constitution 1999 (as amended).

The Speaker, however, said the lawmaker has failed to quote the whole section he quoted to justify his call to declare the seats vacant.
