Following a brief visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived back in Abuja, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
His aircraft touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 8 p.m., and he was met by a delegation including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and Ministers Nyesom Wike and Wale Edun, alongside Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the APC.
During the summit, President Tinubu highlighted the critical necessity for robust global action to halt the intensifying violence in Gaza, advocating for a response from world leaders that transcends mere condemnations and adheres to the principles of proportionality and the protection of civilian rights as per international law.
”In a rules-based international order, States have the right of self-defence. But self defence must take proportionality into account, in line with global legal, diplomatic – and moral – frameworks.
”An entire civilian population, their dreams and futures, cannot be dismissed as collateral,” he said.
On the sidelines of the Summit, President Tinubu held talks with Saudi Arabia’s Crown, Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The President was accompanied on the trip by key officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mohammed Mohammed.
