Breaking: Tinubu announces death of Chief of Army Staff

Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, died at 56 after battling an illness, prompting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to express deep sorrow over the loss of a top military leader, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS. 

Lagbaja passed away on Tuesday night in Lagos surrounded by family, leaving behind a distinguished three-decade career marked by dedication and valor.

Appointed Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023, Lagbaja held various command positions, leading internal security operations crucial to Nigeria’s safety, including Operations ZAKI, Lafiya Dole, Udoka, and Forest Sanity across multiple states.

Late Lt. General Lagbaja, a distinguished alumnus of the U.S. Army War College with a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies, left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s defense strategy and internal security.

He is mourned by his wife, Mariya, their two children, the Armed Forces, and the nation. President Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences, commending the late general’s unwavering dedication and wishing him eternal peace.

The Nigerian Armed Forces and the nation honor Lt. General Lagbaja’s remarkable leadership and service, remembering him as a patriot who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country.
