A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria not to release monthly financial allocations to the Rivers State Government, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik’s ruling deemed Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s use of allocations since January 2024 and his presentation of the 2024 budget to a reduced Rivers State House of Assembly as unconstitutional.
The court sees the governor’s actions as a clear violation of the 1999 Constitution, leading to an order for the CBN, AGF, and the banks to halt access to funds from the Consolidated Revenue Fund and the Federation Account.
