Appoint interim coach for Super Eagles, Elumelu tells NFF

Auste Elumelu has advised the Nigerian Football Federation(NFF) to appoint an interim coach for the Super Eagles.

Elumelu, a former member of the NFF technical committee said this is necessary ahead next month’s 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

The Super Eagles head coach position has been vacant since Finidi George quit in mid-June.

“Appointing a good coach is not that easy, but by now we ought to have a coach for the Super Eagles,” he said.

“But since this delay, we should now appoint an interim coach as there is no time left.”

The Super Eagles will open their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign on September 7 at home against Benin before they travel to Rwanda three days later.
