Actress and movie producer Yvonne Nelson has shared the difficulties she faced while establishing her schools, describing the journey as “hectic and very challenging.”
In an interview published on X by EDHUB, Yvonne revealed the significant financial obstacles she encountered, including running out of funds and being unable to secure loans from banks due to unreasonable interest rates. To fund the construction of her schools, she made the difficult decision to sell her house and other properties that held many cherished memories.
“Obviously, we’ve just started primary school and this is just phase one. We are going to continue and progress further,” Yvonne said. “It is really crazy because, at some point, I am getting personal now. When we started the project, I had to sell my house because I went to the banks for a loan and the percentages were, look, it did not make sense.”
Determined to see her vision through, Yvonne explained, “So, I had to fall back on a house and sell it. I had so many memories there, but I said to myself, Yvonne, this is the only way. So, I sold the house, started the building, the money ran out, and I had to dip into my savings.”
Despite these hurdles, Yvonne remains committed to her mission of building the school and is hopeful about its positive impact on students and future leaders. Her dedication and sacrifices highlight her unwavering belief in the transformative power of education.
