The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully eliminated numerous terrorists in recent airstrikes targeting their hideouts in the Giwa and Igabi local government areas of Kaduna State.
This announcement was made by AVM Edward Gabkwet, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja.
Gabkwet highlighted that the air operations, part of Operation Whirl Stroke, have been ongoing with significant success despite weather challenges. One of the strikes occurred on Friday at Alhaji Layi’s enclave in Kufan Shantu Village, Giwa Local Government Area, where terrorists’ logistics concealed under thick foliage were destroyed.
Similar airstrikes were conducted on Saturday over terrorist camps in Malum Forest, Igabi Local Government Area, yielding positive outcomes. Gabkwet reported that the Battle Damage Assessment footage showed terrorists loitering in the forest around a compound with zinc-roofed structures. A precision strike was then authorized, resulting in the elimination of most of the terrorists.
Gabkwet’s statement underscores NAF’s continued efforts to diminish the capabilities of criminal elements in the North West, despite adverse weather conditions.
