There will be 3-day rain, thunderstorms across Nigeria – NIMET

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast rain and thunderstorms across the country from Friday through Sunday.

In a weather outlook released on Thursday, NiMet predicted morning thunderstorms on Friday in parts of Kano and Kaduna states. As the day progresses, thunderstorms are expected in Bauchi, Gombe, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba states.

For the North Central region, NiMet anticipates morning thunderstorms and rain in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kogi, Benue, Niger, and Nasarawa states. Later in the day, thunderstorms are likely in the FCT, Plateau, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi, and Kwara.

In the southern part of Nigeria, morning rains are expected in Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Edo, Ondo, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Delta states. The entire region may experience intermittent rain later in the day.

On Saturday, NiMet expects morning thunderstorms in Kebbi, Kaduna, and Zamfara states. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are forecast for Gombe, Kaduna, and Bauchi states.

The agency also predicts thunderstorms and rain in the FCT, Plateau, Nasarawa, and Niger states during the morning hours, with more thunderstorms expected later in the day.

For the South, morning rain is anticipated in Ondo, Ogun, Edo, and Lagos states. Intermittent rain is forecast for Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Delta, Edo, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states later in the day.

By Sunday, NiMet expects morning thunderstorms in Jigawa, Kebbi, Kaduna, Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, and Bauchi states. Afternoon thunderstorms are likely in Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi states.

In the North Central region, morning rain is expected in the FCT, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Niger states. The region may experience partly cloudy conditions in the afternoon and evening.
