In a tragic incident, a popular Point of Sale (PoS) operator, identified as Alfa, was shot dead by gunmen in his shop located around Adebayo Area, Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti state.
The assailants, numbering about three and riding on a motorcycle, stormed the area on Thursday and opened fire on the victim, killing him on the spot.
Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing scene, highlighting that the attackers took away an undisclosed amount of money and phones from the deceased.
The incident comes just four days after another shooting, where two gunmen killed an Okada riders’ ticketing officer around the Okesa Area of Ado-Ekiti.
Expressing concern over the escalating violence, a source emphasized the need for government intervention, stating, “The government must be alive to its responsibilities now because these killings are troubling, especially now that it is happening in the state capital in broad daylight.”
The source further noted the recent spate of killings in Ado-Ekiti, underscoring the urgency for action to address the security challenges faced by residents.
As the community grapples with the loss of yet another life to senseless violence, residents are calling for increased security measures to prevent further tragedies and ensure the safety of all citizens.
