Some youths, today 10, June 2024, came out in their large numbers with placards over what they described as incessant illegal arrests by officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The protesters who took their agitation to Akure the state capital of the state carried placards of various inscriptions asking the federal government to look into the illegal night clubs raid by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Savannah Newsnow had over the weekend reported that operatives of the EFCC stormed the popular Alba Royale Club, Signatures Club and conducted a brutal raid on those having fun.
According to a statement posted on the official X handle of the commission said the alleged internet fraudsters were arrested on Saturday morning at a “Yahoo Party” held simultaneously at Signature and Abah Clubs in Akure, the state capital.
“Credible intelligence showed that the alleged party was initially scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, 2024 but was later moved to Saturday to beat security and intelligence networks of the EFCC,” the statement partly read.
The protesters expressed displeasure at the activities of the anti-graft agency claiming their activities have always been to assault innocent youths.
One of the protesters who identified himself as Ogbeni OB Sugar said they are agitating against indiscriminate arrest and illegal raid by the EFCC who many times accuse them of being fraudsters.
He accused the EFCC of conducting illegal night clubs raid and arrests in their operations, calling for a review and reform of the agency’s operations
