I can’t afford to pay N100,000 to each of my 4 drivers – SGF Akume

The Secretary to the Federal Government and former governor of Benue State, George Akume, has said he cannot afford to pay his drivers N100,000 monthly wages. SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS. 

In a viral video, the SGF can be heard saying: “Where is the money to pay my four (4) drivers N100, 000 each monthly?”

The former Benue State Governor said this while addressing the National Executive Council of the Christian Association of Nigeria.

Recall the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, recently submitted the new minimum wage proposal cost to president Bola Tinubu.

The President had given the minister 48 hours to come up with a new minimum wage proposal after Labour unions rejected the N60,000 earlier proposed by the Federal Government.

In another viral approved minimum wage, the Minister for Finance proposed N105,000 as a minimum wage in the country. Though the said proposed minimum wage has been debunked by the Presidency.
