FG arrest attackers of NLC president, Ajaero

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, attackers has been arrested in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, apologized to organized labour on Wednesday for the attack on on the NLC President.

Savannah News reports that NLC president Ajaero was attacked and beaten in Owerri November 1 while leading a protest against the Imo State government over unpaid salaries.

NLC in their press statement accused the Governor of Imo State over the attack, saying the governor was the brain behind the attack.

To retaliate, the labor union issued an ultimatum to the government to meet certain objectives, including the arrest of those responsible for the Ajaero attack.

The Federal Government had gone to court to stop the strike, but it began on Monday, paralyzing activities across the country.

In a statement released and signed by the Head of Strategic Communications in the Office of the National Security Adviser, Zakari U Mijinyawa, on Wednesday, Ribadu urged the movement to rescind its decisions on the ongoing strike , adding that attackers of Ajaero have been arrested and investigations had commenced.
