The Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited (EMTS), known as 9mobile, has appointed telecom expert and technology business leader, Obafemi Banigbe, as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
This was made known in a statement issued on Thursday by the management, 9mobile indicated that Banigbe’s appointment is part of the company’s plans for a new phase of business transformation.
Banigbe takes over from Juergen Peschel, who will continue to support the company as a consultant during this transition period.
Banigbe, a former Director of Operations at Celtel (now Airtel Nigeria) and various key positions at Ericsson within the Sub-Saharan Africa Market Unit.
He has also served as Chief Operations Officer at Millicom Ghana and held leadership roles in both Millicom Ghana and Millicom International Cellular Tanzania.
The company emphasized that this leadership change aligns with their tradition of ensuring business continuity as they embark on a comprehensive transformation process.
